Jack Russell MBE is well-known for his immense skills behind the stumps as a wicket keeper, and represented England in more than 50 test matches and 40 one-day international games.

But the 61-year-old is now known for his abilities as an artist and recently revealed his new painting "Mist and Show, Stiperstones" which was created at the top of the Stiperstones in south Shropshire.

The cricketing legend, who lives in Gloucestershire, said he tries to paint in the county as often as he can, and has spent hours at the top of the distinctive hill - with as many layers on as possible to keep warm - and a paintbrush in hand.

His painting of the Stiperstones has gained traction online amongst his fans and Shropshire residents, and has already become a favourite for some.

Russell's love for painting began when he was stuck inside cricket pavilions when his matches were halted due to rainfall.

The former Gloucestershire County cricketer, who played between 1981 and 2004, said he became fond of the region after spending days exploring Shropshire when one of his games was rained off.
