Councillor Philip Sell said the meeting with representatives of the RBL had been useful.

“This is contingent on them recruiting three key officers, a chairman, secretary and treasurer, who will head up the drive towards forming a committee and getting things moving.

“They have arranged a public meeting at the Burton Hotel on April 9 at 7.30pm to help revive the branch.”

In his mayor’s report, Councillor Sell said he had also written letters to two colleagues who had resigned from their roles as members of the town council. He said both Alan Dixon and Kim Greig would be missed.

Councillor Sell said as agreed at the last full council meeting he had also drafted a report for Kington Parish News.

It includes details about the mayor’s new robes kindly donated by the former mayor of Knighton Derrick Price, an update on town council negotiations to take on ownership of Crooked Wells amenity area and vacancies on the town council.

He said the next report will be written by the Deputy Mayor Councillor Martin Woolford and he urged other councillors to come forward if they would be happy to write a report in the future.
