Adon Francis, 39, from Cotshore Drive in Shrewsbury, was handed the order at Telford Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The charge followed Francis’ arrest at The Exchange pub in Shrewsbury on January 16 - the day Shrewsbury Town hosted Wrexham.

Kate Price, prosecuting, told magistrates said there was an increased police presence on the day of the match because of the “ill feeling” between supporters of the two teams.

She told the court officers were present in most pubs in the town and one had seen a group of five people he knew drinking in The Exchange - including Francis.
