Salon Ten, of Much Wenlock's High Street, has been a fixture in the local community for the most part of the last two decades.

Behind the top-rated salon is Nicky Marcar, who left behind a career in the financial services to pursue her true passion for hairdressing at the age of 30.

And now 18 years later, the experienced hairdresser has returned to her hometown, Newport, to launch a second venue in the former Honeycomb Hair Company building in Upper Bar.

Nicky told the Shropshire Star: “We acquired the second site at the end of last year and we've literally been doing it on our days off up until last week, where we actually did shut for a whole week.

“We had a template in Much Wenlock so it wasn't too bad. We hadn't had to think of new ideas or anything - we knew we wanted to look like the Much Wenlock site.”

Salon Ten in Newport welcomed its first customers yesterday (Tuesday, February 11). While retaining many elements of its previous occupants such as its team and the services they offer, Salon Ten is proud to bring sustainability to Nicky’s hometown.
