Pupils at Prestfelde School in Shrewsbury have excelled at a regional, national and international level in sports including cross country running, football, hockey, equestrian, skiing and even motorsport.

The school prides itself on being a leading education provider for sport in the region and said it recognises that “sport is more than just a physical activity”.

Prestfelde has celebrated the achievements of its young athletes who have exemplified the school’s sporting culture including skiing sensation Imogen who continues to make a name for herself and is due to compete at the GB Alpine Championships in Italy later this month.

Elsewhere, speedster and karting ace Archie recently delivered an impressive performance at the Hivern Cup in Valencia securing second place to mark a strong start to his 2025 season.

Meanwhile, pupil Mabel has qualified to compete at the ‘home of British show jumping’ - Hickstead - through a great result at the NSEA show jumping competition which was held at Allen's Hill. Mabel finished sixth in the 80-85cm class, competing against more than 50 riders, and qualified for the Hickstead RPL Individual Championship in August.

Young runners have earned medals at Shropshire’s County Cross Country Championships. The boys team won the county title while the girls team secured second place.

Pupil Tom became county champion, finishing first while fellow Prestfelde pupil Arlo finished second, and in the Year 8/9 race, pupil Sophie finished fifth and will represent Shropshire at the English Schools Championships in March.

Three Prestfelde pupils, Grace, Izzy, and Imogen, represented Shropshire at the Regional Indoor Athletics Championships.

Meanwhile Prestfelde’s under-12’s and under 13’s hockey team remained undefeated and secured the county title at a tournament at Telford & Wrekin Hockey Club.

And, in football, the school’s under-13’s girls football team has progressed to the quarter finals of the ESFA National Cup after a closely contested clash at Marine. With the scores level at 1-1 at full-time, a penalty shootout was required to decide the tie, and Prestfelde were able to secure victory and a spot in the next round of the competition.

Director of Sport at Prestfelde School, Mr Rob Newey is very proud of his pupils’ accomplishments.

He said: “It has been fantastic to see our pupils excelling across so many different sports. Their hard work and commitment are paying off, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements.

“Sport plays such an important role in their development, and we look forward to seeing them continue to thrive in upcoming competitions.”
