Looking for an intimate venue to celebrate Valentines Day? Look no further. We took to social media to ask our readers where they think the most romantic restaurants in Shropshire are. 

From a thoughtfully-converted church in Telford to a picture-perfect pub in 'Shropshire's poshest village' - here are some of your favourites listed in no particular order.

1. Etzio's, Whitchurch

Etzio's in Whitchurch came highly recommended by a number of commenters. 

The Italian restaurant, which has been serving up tasty dishes since 2015, is rated number 1 of 42 restaurants in Whitchurch on Tripadvisor.

One reviewer wrote: "As usual it's always the best experience at Etzios! We always return as there is no other place that lives up to just how much we love going to our favourite Italian."

The family-run hotel at Norton, between Telford and Bridgnorth, also came highly recommended by those on social media.

Rated number 9 of 311 restaurants in Telford on Tripadvisor, reviewers praised the "superb setting, service and delicious dishes".

3. The Golden Cross, Shrewsbury

A whimsical venue comfortably nestled in Shrewsbury's historic town centre, The Golden Cross mixes shabby chic and antique glamour. 

"A great find, we had a lovely tasty meal and the hosts were great too, and a very cosy tastefully decorated restaurant," wrote one reviewer.

4. 1840 Restaurant, Telford

Renovations on this former Methodist church in Stirchley began in 2016 and it is now a stunning venue with tables made from original church pews, replaced stained glass and restored altar.

A recent review called the restaurant - which showcases locally sourced produce - "a little gem", saying the high-quality good and overall ambience made it a "superb dining experience".

5. The Riverside Inn, Cound

This picture-perfect inn with views over the River Severn is set just outside 'Shropshire's poshest village' between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth.

Reviewers on Tripadvisor praised the friendly staff, tasty food and wide selection of drinks. 

6. La Lanterna, Shrewsbury

Ranked number 13 out of of 286 Restaurants in Shrewsbury on Tripadvisor, this tiny Italian restaurant was a favourite on Facebook. 

A recent review praised the "excellent food", "very friendly staff" and "lovely quirky interior".

7. The Red House, Lilleshall

Since it was taken over by Staffordshire-based Paragon Pub Group Ltd in 2019, The Red House in Lilleshall has undergone an incredible transformation. 

A recent review on Tripadvisor commended the "warm welcoming service" and "excellent" food.
