Food waste from the Market Drayton farm including its café - cooked and raw - goes into several maturation bays which break down the organic material into compost.

Members of Fordhall's Care Farm team, who maintain gardens at the site, have been using this compost to prepare vegetable beds for the spring.

Fordhall Farm's Care Farm provides a day care service for individuals with learning disabilities within their community garden.

Team members recently got their hands mucky and were delighted to find lots of worms within the compost, which is a sign that they have the right mix.

Once their vegetables have grown, members of the Care Farm team will use these to make some delicious dishes for themselves and their families, while others will make their way into Fordhall Organic Farm's café to be made into meals for visitors.

General Manager of the Fordhall Community Land Initiative, Charlotte Hollins said: "The Care Farm team do such a great job in our community garden looking after the area and vegetable beds.

"They love welcoming visitors and are so friendly.

"They are so proud of their work and we are proud to have them as part of the Fordhall Organic Farm family."

As well as growing a wide range of organic fruits and vegetables in the Community Garden, Care Farm attendees enjoy cooking activities both inside and outside at the farm.

They make soups and stews over a campfire, as well as pizzas in a clay oven.

Adding to their work within the Community Garden, team members also take time to care for wildlife in the area by feeding birds and venturing into the woods.

Fordhall Organic Farm says it has spaces for clients within its Care Farm team, and is also on the lookout for a 'therapeutic garden lead' and 'outdoor experience and education manager'.
