Thomas Woodmas, aged 19, laid into the victim, who was playing football at Ellesmere Cricket Club, leaving him with a broken nose and two black eyes.
He thought he got away with the attack, telling friends on social media: “Man’s in clear.”
However, Snapchat messages uncovered by the police incriminated him, leading to his prosecution.
Shrewsbury Crown Court was told that the victim, a secondary school boy who went to meet a girl at the cricket club on May 10, 2022, was running towards the football when he felt a shoulder barge.
He could see three people attacking him, including Woodmas who was kicking him, and another who punched him.
