Police appeal after 'spate' of suspected arsons in Telford within a week

Police are appealing for information from residents in the Sutton Hill area of Telford after a recent "spate" of suspected arsons.

West Mercia Police PCSO for Cuckoo Oak and Ironbridge, Amy Newbrook posted an appeal on Wednesday evening.

She reported two vehicle fires within the last week which are being treated as suspected arsons. 

Police were alerted of a car fire on Sandcroft last Sunday at around 11.15pm, and of a caravan fire on Stonedale at around 8.30pm on Tuesday. 

The incidents are not believed to be linked and no injuries have been reported.

The post said information may be "vital" to investigations. 

The appeal said: "Following a recent spate of suspected arsons in the Sutton Hill area, officers are appealing to the local community for any information that may be vital to their investigation. While no injuries have been reported, there have been two vehicle fires within the last week. 

"On February 9 at 11.15pm police were alerted to a car fire in Sandcroft, Sutton Hill and on February 11 at 8.30pm reports were received of a caravan ablaze in Stonedale, Sutton Hill. It is not believed that these incidents are linked

"We understand the level of concern that incidents like these can cause to the community, so you may notice an increased police presence over the coming days as officers provide reassurance. 

"We are appealing to see if any local residents, that haven't already come forward, saw or heard anything on the dates and times stated above.
