Ludlow shoplifter who stole £2,770 of goods in TWENTY-NINE thefts across town gets suspended sentence

An "unsophisticated" but prolific shoplifter who racked up £2,770 worth of stolen goods in dozens of raids on Ludlow shops has avoided jail.

Finley Hill, 26, carried out 29 thefts from shops around Ludlow, stealing food, alcohol, clothes, dog harnesses, washing products and more, in two separate spates.

He committed 15 shop thefts between October and December of 2023, targeting Tesco, One Stop and Pets at home, then another 14 thefts between April and June last year, targeting One Stop, Aldi, Sainsbury's and Fat Face.

The single largest theft was from Fat Face in November 2023, when Hill stole clothes worth £700; the total value of all the items he stole came to £2,770.01.

Hill, of Milton Road in Ludlow, was recognised on CCTV footage and later pleaded guilty to 29 counts of theft from a shop. He attended Telford Magistrates Court on Wednesday (February 12) to be sentenced.
