The A5 west of Shrewsbury was closed in both directions between Felton Butler and the B4396 Wolfshead Roundabout following a serious collision on Thursday (February 13).

Police and ambulance services attended the scene along with five fire crews from Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Wellington stations.

A spokesperson from Shropshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the collision involved four vehicles.

National Highways confirmed the road was closed at 7pm and an hour later warned drivers that the closure was expected to be in place "for a considerable time" as police carried out "complex investigation work".

The A5 northbound had reopened at around 2am on Friday, with the southbound carriageway remaining closed for clean up works.

But around 5am, National Highways confirmed the southbound carriageway had also reopened following the collision.

West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance have been approached for more information.
