MP would 'never support' Telford and Shropshire councils merger
An MP says he would "never support" a merger between Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Councils.

Telford's Labour MP, Shaun Davies, was responding after the issue was thrown back into the spotlight following discussions at Shropshire Council's cabinet earlier this week.
The council's Conservative leader said that Shrewsbury's Labour MP had suggested Shropshire Council merge with Telford & Wrekin to solve its budget problems.
The issue comes as the government says it is committed to 'nothing less than a completely new way of governing' adding it wants a 'generational project of determined devolution'.
It is unclear what this means for the county's councils, and which method of devolution will be considered.
