Robert Horton, a former Bridgnorth Endowed School student, is in the second year of his digital production, design and development T-Level, studying at the college’s new campus in Telford Town Centre.

Digital lecturer and course team leader Elizabet Basford said: “Robert completed his work experience with Wrekin Housing Group, then asked to work every Wednesday afternoon with them to gain extra experience - which they agreed to.

“He was offered a month’s paid work experience with the group following his placement, and has now been offered an apprenticeship position once he has finished his T-Level study with us.”

Elizabet said the 17-year-old had impressed Wrekin Housing Group’s director of IT, Lawrence Gardner, with his ‘excellent attitude to his studies’.

She added: “Rob is a valued member of the group. He is an excellent coder and a hard working, determined young man. I am so proud of his achievements.”

Lawrence Gardner, head of ICT at the Wrekin Housing Group said: “From day one, Robert showed great initiative, enthusiasm, and technical skill.

“His ability to problem-solve and adapt to real-world IT challenges has made him a valuable asset to the team.

“We’re excited to have him continue his journey with us as an apprentice and see his talent develop further.”
