Powys County Council is inviting building contractors experienced in leading housing construction schemes to find out more about its exciting housing development programme at an event in Welshpool next month.

A Meet the Buyer event will take place at Welshpool Integrated Family Centre on Thursday, March 13, between 10am and 4pm.

The council’s Housing Development Team will present its housing development programme for north Powys. All construction contractors experienced in acting as principal contractors in building housing schemes are invited to find out more.

Councillor Matthew Dorrance, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Powys, said: “We’re calling on construction contractors to help us build the next generation of council homes.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for building contractors to engage directly with us as we work to tackle the housing emergency in Powys.

“We are committed to building high-quality council homes across the county. This event will provide opportunities to learn about our plans to build a stronger, fairer, greener future for Powys.”

Highlighted housing development projects that will be presented at the event include a 38-unit development consisting of houses, walk-up flats and bungalows in Churchstoke, a 24-unit development consisting of houses, walk-up flats and bungalows in Llandrinio, an 18-unit development consisting of houses, walk-up flats and bungalows in Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant, a 16-unit development consisting of houses, walk-up flats and bungalows in Llanfyllin and 16 bungalows in Welshpool

Contractors will be able to speak directly with staff from the Housing Development Team and the Commercial Services Team to gain an understanding of the future schemes and procurement plans.

The schemes will be subject to separate tender exercises and the council is not seeking to source a single contractor for all schemes.

To find out more or to book your slot at the event, email affordable.housing@powys.gov.uk confirming your preference for either a morning or afternoon slot.

The deadline for registrations is Thursday, March 6.
