Firefighters called to south Shropshire hotel after deep fat fryer fire

Firefighters were called a hotel in south Shropshire after a fire involving a deep fat fryer.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue received a report of a fire at the Salway Arms Hotel on Station Road in Woofferton at around 5.37pm. 

Two fire appliances were sent to the scene from Ludlow fire station.

A spokesperson for the fire service said the fire involved a deep fat fryer, but the blaze was out upon the arrival of firefighters.

A statement from Shropshire Fire and Rescue said the ground floor was "heavily smokelogged" and the crew used "positive pressure ventilation system to clear the smoke".

The stop message, which indicates the scene was under control, was received at 6.15pm.
