Shrewsbury man charged with possessing knife in town centre

A man has been charged with possessing a knife in a public place after being arrested in Walsall.

West Midlands Police confirmed that it had arrested 20-year-old Jack Davison, from Shrewsbury, after he was found in possession of a knife near St Paul's Bus Station on St Paul's Street in Walsall on January 31.

Davison appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on February 12 for a first hearing.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We charged a 20-year-old man with possession of a knife in a public place after arresting him in Walsall town centre.

"Jack Davison, from Shrewsbury, appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on February 12 for a first hearing.

"It follows an arrest on January 31 at St Paul’s Bus Station, on St Paul’s Street, where a knife was recovered from the area.

"Data released from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), covering the period year ending October 2023 to September 2024, showed that WMP had seen knife crime fall by 6 per cent."
