Plans by a charity which supports people with drug and alcohol use issues to create a new office space, have been approved.

Kaleidoscope runs its operations from the ground floor of Old Grosvenor Bakery on Wellington Road, Llandrindod Wells.

Due to the residents vacating the first floor areas, they submitted a change of use application from a C3 Use Class to a B1 Use to repurpose the first floor into office space for the benefit of the commercial operation below.

James Wallace of Kaleidoscope said the works include minor reconfiguration and refurbishment of the current first floor areas.

The first floor area has been previously utilised as residential accommodation but it is currently vacant and has been vacant for some time.

The charity said it currently employs four full time and five part time staff and this development would result in the employment of another full time employee.

In its application it said; “The Kaleidoscope operation is delivered in partnership with Adferiad Recovery, who work together to support people with their drug and alcohol use.

“The additional of new and improved office space will enhance the services Kaleidoscope are able to provide as well as improving the communal value for the building, highlighting a positive vision for the future of The Old Grosvenor Bakery.”

Llandrindod Wells Town Council supported the plan.

Powys County Council recently approved the planning application.
