Police launch urgent appeal after 'significant' criminal damage at Shrewsbury’s Abbey Church
Police have launched an urgent appeal following “serious” criminal damage made to a church in Shrewsbury.

The incident occurred at Abbey Church between 10pm last Thursday (February 13) and 8.30am on the following day.
While nothing was stolen, a 400-year-old door and another door believed to be built in Victorian times were both damaged.
Police said repairs to the outside and internal door will cost around £1,500 to repair.
Officers are now calling for witnesses to come forward if they have any information or dashcam footage regarding the incident.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Officers are calling for witnesses following an incident of criminal damage at the Abbey Church in Shrewsbury.
“A significant amount of damage was caused to the outside doors, as well as internal doors, with an estimated cost of £1,500 to repair.
“It is believed the damage occurred between 10pm on Thursday 13 February and 8.30am on Friday 14 February.
“We are appealing for anyone who drove past the church during these times, on Abbey Forgate, with a dashcam to check the footage for anyone walking nearby. Anyone with any other information is also asked to get in contact with police.
