A woman was found deceased after police were called to a stretch of the River Severn in Shrewsbury earlier this week.

West Mercia Police have confirmed the death of a woman after they were called to a stretch of the River Severn in Shrewsbury earlier this week.

Officers were called to Coseley Avenue in Shrewsbury on Monday, February 17, at around 3pm following a concern for welfare report. 

Police have confirmed that her death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Officers were called to part of the River Severn, near to Coseley Avenue in Shrewsbury, on Monday (17 February) at around 3pm following a concern for welfare report. 

"Sadly, a woman was found deceased. Her death is not being treated as suspicious, with no third-party involvement."
