Barry Salter, who has lived in Market Drayton for more than 40 years, experiences difficulties in Queen Street Car Park due to tree roots which have grown through and forced the pavement to crack.

The electric wheelchair user is urging local authorities to spend more money on fixing issues, including potholes in the North Shropshire town which he said he also present him with severe challenges.

The 74-year-old questioned why potholes have "been allowed to increase to an unmanageable degree".

Barry did say that he was pleased to see a pothole fixed on Stafford Street in Market Drayton after reporting the issue to the town council, but believes more needs to be done.

Speaking on the pavement in the car park, Barry said: "I challenge anyone to drive an electric wheelchair along that pavement without being fearful of being tipped off the pavement and down the slope onto the car park.

"I know this sounds dramatic and I could either drive much slower, shop elsewhere or find another route. But, why should I?

"I should feel safe whenever I travel."

And, it is not just himself who Barry has concern for.
