More than 300 properties without power - Newport, Wellington and South Shropshire residents affected

More than 300 properties across Shropshire have been left without power today.

National Grid is reporting that 181 properties in Newport - TF10 postcode area - have been affected by a 'high voltage' incident.

The power company says these incidents tend to be larger and affect the wider area.

The power blackout was first reported to National Grid at around 1.37pm.

The power company said it hopes to restore power by 3.30pm.

Elsewhere, a further 77 properties in Wellington remained without electricity at 2.30pm.

National Grid was first made aware of the issue shortly after 10am and expects it will take until 6pm for the problem to be resolved. 

And, in Munslow and surrounding areas in South Shropshire, 47 properties were affected by another 'high voltage' incident. 

The power cut was first reported at 12.56am on Sunday.

Power supplies are expected to be returned to all properties by 5pm.
