Motorist arrested and three vehicles seized during operation to combat vehicle crime in Oswestry

Police have arrested a motorist for driving dangerously in Oswestry and seized three vehicles during a crack down on vehicle crime in the town.

Member of Oswestry Central Safer Neighbourhood Team, Simon Wilkey reported the arrests and seizures which took place on Friday and Saturday.

Officers in the border town collaborated with colleagues from the road policing team and motorcycle units to target motorists who were driving illegally.

One individual was arrested after failing to stop, for "driving dangerously through the town" and for additional offences.

Two other motorists were also apprehended for drink and drug driving offences.

Three vehicles were seized in total during the operation - Mercedes, BMW and Volkswagen cars.

Other motorists were also reported for offences including for having no tax, no insurance and for driving at "excessive speeds".

The post by Simon Wilkey said: "Impaired driving and excessive speed are two of the fatal four factors in road fatalities. We will continue to proactively target drivers who pose a risk to public safety."
