Swan Hill and Caegoody Lane in Ellesmere may soon be closed for up to 62 nights in order to protect toads as they head back to their breeding ponds after hibernation.

From February 27 to the end of April - and when the toads start migrating - sections of the roads could be closed between 7pm and 7am.

A local group of volunteers called Ellesmere Toad Patrol will be on site each night to manage the road closures and help the toads cross the road safely.
