Dave Arthur is warehouse and manufacturing manager at Seymour Manufacturing International (SMI) at Stafford Park, which specialises in producing thermal insulation and temperature control products.

He is doing 28 cold water dips in February – one every day of the month - to raise money for men’s mental health charity Primal Instincts.

Founded in 2023, the group provides ‘safe spaces’ for men who are struggling with mental health issues and benefit from spending time together.

Its most popular event is its weekly ‘river dip’, where a group meets at 6am each Saturday to take a dip in the cold water of the River Severn.

Dave was joined by other members of the Primal Instincts group for the dip on Saturday.

But Dave has decided to go one step further, by taking the plunge every single day in February, either in the River Severn, or at Simpsons Pool in Horsehay, Telford.

He is hoping that his challenge will raise both awareness and funds for the charity, and has set up a GoFundMe page which is already well on the way to hitting his £500 target.

Dave said: “Primal Instincts is such a fantastic group. It helps men who are struggling with different events to know they are not on their own.”
