Rowton Brewery will take over the running of The Tiddly - also known as the Royal Oak - in Ellerdine.

After 15 years at the helm, former landlords Sue and Gary announced they would be retiring last year and closed the pub on February 16.

Now the pub is set to reopen after Rowton announced the acquisition.

The independent, family-run brewery was established in 2008 and currently runs The Pheasant Inn and Wrekin Inn in Wellington, as well as the Old Fighting Cocks in Oakengates.

Announcing the takeover, a spokesperson for Rowton Brewery said: "It gives us great pleasure to announce that we will be taking over the Tiddly in Ellerdine.

"We will be carrying on the tradition of keeping quality real ales on the bar with a selection of our own Rowton ales alongside guest beers from near and far.

"Gary and Sue have done such a fantastic job of running the pub over the last 15 years and we wish them well in their well-earned retirement.

"We are aiming to reopen the pub in early March and will share a date soon."
