It's no secret that after the last 14 years the NHS is on its knees, and we've been harder hit than most areas. If you’ve struggled in to get an urgent dentist appointment, you’re not alone. Struggled to see a GP you're not alone. Waited hours in A&E, for an ambulance or an operation - you guessed it you’re not alone.

But there’s some good news - last week, the Government took its first steps to get the NHS off its knees and announced that 700,000 extra urgent dental appointments will soon be available across England. That means 7,408 additional appointments for people right here in Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin.

And more good news that the Government has also announced excellent progress with regards to NHS appointments. This promise was for two million extra NHS appointments within a year and as of mid-February, the data shows we’ve hit the target - seven months early.

It’s not just money the NHS needs but transformation. The last government spent as £88 million to get extra dentist appointments which led to no impact for patients.

I know until you start to the feel the change you won't necessarily believe it - that's why I'm committed to ensuring we get our fair share here in Telford - of both the money and the change.

I know from my own experience of our local NHS and my families too that we need to go further and faster.

I have been listening to hundreds of residents in Telford in recent weeks as a part of my local survey and I have now fed every single comment into the national NHS consultation which is being led by Wes Streeting.

I will never stop fighting for improvements in our local NHS; after all it's the same services you, my family, my friends and our town rely on.
