With the local plan set to be approved at the full meeting of Telford & Wrekin Council later this week, the Shropshire Star has taken a closer look at the proposals for one of those huge new housing developments.

The proposals are for three 'sustainable urban extensions', all on land to the north of Telford.

They include a number of schools, jobs, parks and public open spaces for the developments.

Ultimately they are intended to deliver a total of 7,900 homes - although not all of those are targeted for completion during the plan period, which runs from 2020 to 2040.

One of the proposals is for land to the north of Bratton and Shawbirch. The development would be made up of 2,100 homes and two hectares of employment land over the plan period.

Others are planned for a 182-hectare site to the northeast of Muxton, and land north of the A442 at Wheat Leasowes.

Documents submitted as part of the local plan process back in 2023 describe what the Bratton development, known as 'Bratton Green', would involve.
