Two cars damaged in 'deliberate' fire in Telford during early hours of morning

A fire that damaged two cars during the early hours of this morning is suspected to have been started deliberately.

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 12.41am reporting the care fires on St Georges Avenue in St Georges, Telford.

One fire crew was sent from Telford Central Fire Station to the scene. A fire investigation officer was also in attendance.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fires and make the scene safe.

Police crews were also in attendance. 

Reports from the fire service said two cars were damaged by the fire that is believed to be "deliberate ignition".

The incident concluded at 1.40am.

West Mercia Police has been contacted for comment.
