Time is running out to take part in a Llandrindod Wells survey to find out what people think about the idea of a monthly street market

Llandrindod Wells Town Council launched the survey in January to find out what residents, retailers and traders think of the idea.
But the closing date is March 1 2025.
At a recent meeting town clerk Jane Johnston said: “Town centre businesses have been visited and issued paper copies of the survey and links to the electronic version.
“The Council has joined the National Association of British Markets (NABMA) to fully explore the idea and obtain the best industry information and advice.
“Councillor Robert Thomas and Councillor Chris Owen (Blue) recently attended the Association’s National Conference and will be reporting back to Council on this at the next Business Development Meeting in March.”
Llandrindod Wells Mayor Councillor Marcia Morgan said she and the council’s administrative assistant, Steven met with some local businesses to discuss the idea of a monthly market and asked them to complete the consultation survey.
Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Smith, Vice Chair has spoken with local market traders who come to Llandrindod Wells on Friday’s.
The town council is looking at an idea of possibly closing off Middleton Street one Saturday a month for a street market for street traders, maybe for six to eight monthly events.
Ms Johnston previously said; “The reason why the Town Council is considering having a street market on a Saturday is because that is the quietest trading day on Middleton Street, with the least footfall, and it is also a quiet time for traffic and parking levels. It is also perceived that there would also be more tourists in the area on a Saturday.”
To help them in looking into the viability of the project they are urging people to fill in a survey and give them some feedback on the idea.

Buoyed by the success of the recent Christmas market which was organised in a few days, town councillors agreed to look into holding a monthly market in Middleton Street to attract shoppers.
Councillor Jamie Jones said; “At the moment the only thing bringing people into the town is the Metropole Hotel and the lake and with the likes of the Victorian Festival cutting back, the town is missing an identity. I just thought if we had a market or other traders to bring people in.
“I was down in Middleton Street the other Saturday and it was dead. It should be the busiest day of the week.”
