Ponderosa Cafe in Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen, shut in November 2024 with ambitions to reopen in the new years.
Its owners Simon and Sam Clemence have now informed their loyal customers that the cafe will not be reopening.
In a heartfelt social media post, the owners thanked customers and the biking community for their “unflinching support” throughout the last 42 years.

The Facebook post said: “It is with a heavy heart we announce that the Ponderosa shall not be re-opening at this present moment in time.
“We would like to take this opportunity and thank our loyal customers. There are many other cafes you could have chosen but you chose us and for that we are deeply grateful.
“A big heartfelt thank you goes out to the biking community for their unflinching support through many ups and downs during the years that we have been at the Ponderosa.
“We would also like to thank our staff, past and present. We could not have accomplished our success without you and would like to express our deep sense of gratitude to each and everyone of you.
“Your hard work, dedication and resilience have not gone unnoticed.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful past 42 years.
“Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for any future updates.”
The sudden closure announcement was a shock to customers of the popular cafe, who said they were “gutted” to lose the space.
One customer commented: “Such sad news, I’ve grown up going to the ponderosa, then as a biker and brought my sons here, who now come as bikers. All the best for what comes next.”
Another customer said: “Truly gutted to hear this news Simon. I hope things work out - that you can find a way to reopen.
“Much more than a cafe, for many people including my dad - this was a reason to get up and get out on your bike.
“We have all been coming here regularly for 30 years+. Really gutted for you and for all the people who visited and connected there. Wishing you all the best for your future and that of the Ponderosa.”
