Delays on A5 in Shrewsbury after crash at busy roundabout

Motorists experienced heavy delays on the A5 towards Shrewsbury this morning after a crash.

Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A5 near Upton Magna at around 8.50am.

The AA's traffic news website said the a collision took place near to the the Preston Island.

It said motorists were experienced "severe" delays of up to 12-minutes.

Traffic continued to build up on the A5 Westbound. The AA added that the average speed was 10mph. 

It said the A5 was: "Partially blocked and very slow traffic due to crash on A5 Westbound at A49 (Preston Island)."

Traffic had eased by 10am. 

West Mercia Police have confirmed that no arrests were made and no serious injuries were reported.

A spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A5, near to Upton Magna, at around 8.50am today. No arrests were made and no serious injuries reported."
