Shrewsbury-based Galliers Homes, whose sister company is the Staffordshire firm Cameron Homes, is looking at an increase in turnover for the current year, in what has been a buoyant housing market.

About 100 members of staff from both businesses gathered at Weston Park for their annual conference to hear the plans for expansion.

They were told that the company is to open a new head office in the county town, appoint a new managing director, and launch new housing designs to the market.

Ian Burns, managing director, told the team that growth had been exceptional over the last 12 months, with around 25 new jobs being created, and this was set to continue throughout this year.

He said that as well as the companies completing 228 properties in 2017, there would be major investment in staff and infrastructure.

“Our operating area is widening throughout Shropshire, with new sites opening this year in Baschurch and Newport," he said.

“We will be investing heavily in the training and development of our people and a new IT system is being introduced, starting from this year, which will improve efficiency and speed of operation throughout the firm."

Mr Burns added: “One of our most exciting plans is the launch of a new core house type range which is currently being developed, with our own specialists working with a firm of architects. This will be unveiled in the near future.

“A new Galliers head office is also set to open shortly in Shrewsbury and a new managing director is being appointed so the future is looking very bright for the company.

“Importantly, we are also aiming to gain five star rating in the Home Builders’ Federation customer satisfaction survey which monitors the overall experience of our purchasers,” he said.

Galliers is looking to recruit across a wide range of disciplines to strengthen its team.

The company has accelerated its growth in recent years having effectively been dormant in the wake of the credit crunch and subsequent financial crisis.

It effectively began again in 2014, having been essentially mothballed for three years, but has capitalised on a resurgent housing market since then, increasing the number of homes it completes.

Galliers Homes was founded in 1987 by Graham Galliers, who died in October 2013.

The following year it was acquired by Staffordshire-based Cameron Homes, which resulted in a major investment in the company.
