New look Churchstoke shopping centre unveiled

Midcounties Co-operative is marking the completion it's new-look Churchstoke Shopping Centre next Saturday following the transformation of the former Harry Tuffins site.

There will be food sampling and face painting as part of a day of celebration, with a balloon artist, magician and bouncy castle also at the centre, and special offers and discounts on the day.

The group took over the majority of Harry Tuffins outlets in 2012, and follows similar overhauls in Ludlow and Holywell, as well as a complete replacement of the store at Cleobury Mortimer, in recent years.

The 40,000 square foot Churchstoke complex has a food supermarket at the heart of it, which will sell a ‘Best of Our Counties’ range supporting local suppliers.

The centre will also feature a number of new and existing outlets, with an extensive non food and pound shop area, a post office and petrol filling station. New additions include an M&Co clothing outlet, Archie Lily’s café, The Plant Centre and butcher Jamie Wards.

Vince Sage, store manager at Midcounties Co-operative Food in Churchstoke, said: “We have made some really exciting changes to the store to increase the product range on offer to our customers, including the introduction of our quality Irresistible range.

"We’ve also maintained elements much loved by the local community, including the café, Sunday market and Sam the parrot will be moving into a new cage.

“The Churchstoke Shopping Centre is ideal for local shoppers that want to access a great range of products and services all in one place, and also an ideal stop off point for those travelling to the coast.

"We’re really looking forward to welcoming the community through the doors later this month to see everything the new shopping centre has to offer.”

Roy Delves, the former owner of the Harry Tuffins business, said: “It’s fantastic to see the investment that Midcounties Co-operative has made in the store, whilst retaining the elements that the people in the area require and rely on. I am very much looking forward to seeing the store when it’s completed at the end of the month”.

There will be significant investment in the remaining sites in Machynlleth and Knighton during 2018, Midcounties Co-operative has pledged.
