New directors needed for south Shropshire community company
A rural regeneration company in south Shropshire is seeking new directors for its board.
Enterprise South West Shropshire an organisation that runs the town library, business park and theatre in Bishop's Castle, as well as supporting small businesses across the south west Shropshire and Welsh border area.
The company is now looking for new blood from the Clun area in particular after the retirement of one of its key figures from that region.
Peter Phillips, chairman of ESWS and a former Shropshire Councillor, said: "The company's task is the economic and social regeneration of the area – 200 square miles of very rural Shropshire.
"It lends support to businesses, has a business network of some 200 and offers advice on, amongst other things, child minding and apprenticeships. It is the contact point for the business park in Bishop's Castle and offers community information.
"It also manages the library on behalf of the council, runs the SpArC Theatre and has the artificial sports pitch.
"At its recent annual meeting, long-serving director Llewellyn Morgan, from Llanfair Waterdine, retired.
"He had been a director from the start of the company 22 years ago but this left the Clun area with only one director, Nigel Hartin.
"Llewellyn was a loyal and committed director. Somehow we seem to have lost most of our original representatives from the southern area but our remit very much include it.
"We’d be delighted if interested people might come along to talk about being a director. Enthusiasm and commitment are the main qualifications," he said.
