13 jobs axed as Oswestry building supplies firm goes into administration

RSM Restructuring Advisory has been appointed as the administrator for JC Evans Building & Landscaping Supplies, which had a turnover of £3 million and employed 15 permanent staff.

The move has seen 13 members of staff being made redundant, while two others have been retained to help administrators Diana Frangou and Guy Mander.

JC Evans is an independent, family-run business supplying to the trade and general public, which operates from two premises in Oswestry.

It offers a range of building and landscaping materials, a kitchen and bathroom design service through the Inspire Home Design brand and tiling under the Oswestry Tile Centre trading name.

All three businesses have ceased trading following the collapse, RSM confirmed.

The decision to appoint administrators was made because the company was experiencing "substantial cash flow difficulties and increasing creditor pressure", the administrators said in a statement..

Ms Frangou, restructuring advisory partner at RSM and a joint administrator, said: "With cash flow constraints impacting upon the company’s trade, steps have been taken to protect its assets by the administration.

"We are currently assessing the company’s asset base with a view to maximising realisations for the benefit of creditors.

"Regrettably, due to trade being suspended we have had to make 13 employees redundant. Our team has been assisting those employees in order that their claims can be processed as efficiently as possible.

"Two employees have been retained to assist the administrators in their duties."

An associated company – aggregates, skips and recycling business Evawaste (Oswestry) Limited – remains unaffected and continues to trade as usual.

JC Evans had its headquarters on the Maesbury Road Industrial Estate in Oswestry, with its Inspire Home Design and Oswestry Tile Centre businesses based nearby.
