The initiative - which sees Telford & Wrekin Council bring together the borough's leading skills providers under a single collaborative framework - will be unveiled on March 13 at a free event.

Held at The Quad in Station Quarter, the Skills for Growth event aims to simplify the skills landscape for businesses and make sure finding the right support is much more straightforward.

Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment & Skills, said  this Skills for Growth event which includes an expo and networking opportunities, will be packed with useful information for any employer in the borough looking to develop their employees’ skills.

“Skills for Growth is a must attend event for any employer looking to train teams and develop their workforce, equipping their people with the skills they need to help businesses flourish.

“It will showcase all the funding opportunities and skills initiatives on offer across Telford & Wrekin – and demonstrate the new collaborative working agreement between all skills providers to simplify the system.

“All our training providers are working together to signpost businesses to the direction of the support they need regardless of who provides it.

“It will make navigating the skills landscape much easier for employers and is something which will bring huge benefits to firms across the borough.”

The event gets under way at 8.30am with a welcome from Telford & Wrekin Council Leader Councillor Lee Carter.

Event host Amy Bould, of PR and communications consultancy Be Bold, will be putting the questions to a panel of training providers from Harper Adams University, Telford College, Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and In-Comm Training.

The event will also hear from a panel of Telford and Wrekin employers on the current challenges around workforce development and their experience of working with training providers.

Telford & Wrekin Council Director of Prosperity & Investment James Dunn will outline the economic picture across the borough and the event will also include networking opportunities and a skills expo.

The event is open for employers of all sizes in Telford & Wrekin, businesses looking to develop their staff, employers who aren't currently engaging with skills support and businesses keen to understand the benefits of upskilling.
