Oswestry's Simran fulfils career ambition held since age of ten
An Oswestry woman has qualified as a commercial lawyer with GHP legal.
Simran Shah, who was educated at Moreton Hall School, where she received the Principal’s Award, has worked to fulfil her ambition of becoming a lawyer from the age of ten.
Getting involved in her family’s business as a teenager she became fascinated by how businesses operated and how the regulations that were in place applied to them.
This led to Simran taking a law degree at University of Nottingham, and in 2022 she gained a Master of Law degree combined with the Legal Practice Course.
Simran returned to Oswestry and joined GHP Legal as a paralegal in 2022. She was later offered a solicitor training contract with the firm and qualified as a solicitor on 28th January 2025. She is based at the firm’s Oswestry offices at 21 The Cross.
As a member of the high calibre team of solicitors, solicitor-advocates and other law professionals in the firm’s Company & Commercial department, Simran will be advising clients on a full spectrum of business matters, helping them to fulfil their objectives and improve their future prospects.
With almost 55 years in the legal sector, GHP Legal is a long-time supporter of the solicitor training programme. As one trainee qualifies, another begins their journey.
The latest recruit to step onto the ladder is Lucy Tucker, who also joined the firm as a paralegal, in the summer of 2024, and was offered a solicitor training contract at the beginning of January 2025.
Prior to her appointment at GHP Legal, Lucy worked for two years as a senior paralegal at a Nottingham law firm where she specialised in commercial property for utilities. Since joining GHP Legal she has gained experience in property, civil litigation, probate and corporate law.
Richard Lloyd, Senior Partner at GHP Legal, said: “We are extremely proud to celebrate the achievements of all our trainees and delighted when they successfully qualify.
"We wish Simran and Lucy all the best in their future journey with the firm and look forward to seeing their continued success.”
