Thieves took the wheels from the Bridgnorth Community Bus sometime between Friday night and Saturday night, police said.

The bus was parked overnight in the rear car park of the council offices on Stanley Lane, Bridgnorth.

Officers said the bus was a vital asset to the Bridgnorth Community Bus charity.

The charity has been supplying transport for more than 50 years to local residents who do not have access to public or private transport, or who have mobility problems.

The service provides transport to medical and other essential appointments and is operated entirely by volunteer drivers
