The words "Take our country back" were scrawled across the wall of Craven Arms Community Centre on the same night as roof tiles and a fence were broken at the toilets on Shrewsbury Road.

Eric Williams, town clerk, said: "Someone got onto the roof of the toilets on Thursday night – why, I've no idea – and we've had to replace 30 tiles. They also did damage to the fence."

He said the work had to be done immediately as if rain got in over the Easter weekend it could cause much more expensive damage.

"We do now seem to be going through a spate of vandalism in our area," he said.

"About two weeks ago the bus shelter at the front of the toilets had panes broken and I noticed there were also panes broken up by the community centre.

"It is very frustrating. When we have to spend money on things like this it takes away from money that could be spent on something useful," he added.

He said police had been informed of the incidents and anyone with information should call 101.
