Police investigate thefts from people in Shrewsbury

Police are investigating after several people in the Shrewsbury area were victims of theft.

The first incident happened between midday on April 26 and 10.30pm the next day when a member of staff at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital mislaid a wallet, possibly in a hospital shop.

He later discovered that four fraudulent transactions had been made in Monkmoor using a credit card stolen from the wallet.

Anyone with any information should call 101 quoting incident number 0802s of April 27.

Cash was also taken from a purse which had been dropped, possibly while unloading a car on a driveway in Aysgarth Road, Copthorne, between 2am and 9am on April 28.

A neighbour found the purse in an alley nearby but cash had already been taken.

Officers are also investigating after a visitor to the town was bumped into by a female in a charity shop in High Street at about 12.30pm on April 29.

The woman was accompanied by a man. The visitor then discovered a small yellow Asprey purse with cash had been taken from her handbag.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident number 0432s of April 29.

Finally, at about midday on Monday, a shopper was walking home in Field Close, Sundorne. She was pulling her shopping trolley behind her and felt a tug on the trolley.

She looked around to see a man putting her purse back into the trolley. He is said to have spoken in a foreign language and left.

The shopper got home to find cash and a credit card were missing from the purse.
