Police and firefighters are calling for information after the equipment was taken from a fire engine in a burglary at Albrighton Fire Station.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We are disappointed to report that there was a break-in at Albrighton Fire Station in the early hours of Friday morning.

"Alongside police, we are currently investigating the robbery of essential rescue equipment from Albrighton’s fire engine.

"While we appreciate the good will displayed by members of the public who are suggesting crowd funding for replacements, we feel it is important to let the people of Albrighton know that this will not be necessary.

"We have provisions in place for incidents such as these, and the equipment will be replaced in the near future. We would also like to reassure people of Albrighton that fire cover will not be affected by this setback.

"We ask that you remain vigilant, and if you see anything or have any information please report it to the police."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 38s of June 9.
