Officers in Market Drayton, who have been patrolling the school run for several months, said they will be issuing tickets to parents blocking footpaths outside schools in the area.

Constable Mick Sturland said: "We recently issued warning notes at Hodnet School but will be giving out tickets next time."

Recently police put “no waiting” cones around the areas where parents are not allowed to park at Market Drayton Infant and Nursery School.

Shropshire Council said parking outside schools was a problem countywide and, where possible, it liaises with the police where there are specific issues.

Market Drayton Junior School, Hodnet Primary School and Norton-in-Hales Primary School have also been identified as having issues with dangerous parking.
