200 TARANTULAS in van stopped on M5
Motorway police had a big shock when they stopped a van on the motorway on the M5 – to find hundreds of tarantulas inside.
Around 200 of the spiders were packed into tubs in the van which was flagged down by officers from the Central Motorway Policing Group close to Junction 8 of the M5 yesterday.
The arachnids were all healthy and being taken to a reptile show, according to a police spokesman.
Officers 'drew straws' to decide who should investigate.
The van was allowed to continue on its journey.
