Jailed: Telford man broke reveller's jaw at Newport nightclub
A Telford man who broke the jaw of a fellow nightclubber when he punched him on the dancefloor has been jailed for two years.
Jacob Flavin, 21, was given the sentence after appearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court along with half brother Lloyd Fletcher, 29, both charged with a range of offences.
The most serious was a count of grievous bodily harm against Flavin after he hospitalised Daniel Koziega in a fight at Newport's Central Square nightclub in March last year.
Mr Koziega needed two plates inserted into his jaw and had been left scared to go out on the town at night, the court heard.
Following a trial Flavin, of Yew Tree Meadow, Hadley, was given 12 months in prison for grievous bodily harm and three months for actual bodily harm, together with a further nine months for dealing cannabis in a separate case with his half brother.
The pair's home had been raided, again in March 2016, and money, a large amount of cannabis and a small quantity of cocaine had been found.
Both admitted possession of cannabis with intent to supply and Fletcher also admitted supplying cocaine.
Fletcher avoided jail, being given a two-year sentence, suspended for two years. He was ordered to pay £250 costs, do 100 hours unpaid work and attend rehabilitation activities and thinking skills sessions.
Judge Jim Tindal told Flavin: "I get the impression you are rather a Jekyll and Hyde character in that most of the time you carry on an ordinary life and reasonable life, working hard.
"You know and have accepted your fate which shows some degree of maturity."
He said he hoped that maturity would lead to him keeping his head down in prison and keeping out of trouble upon his release.
