New appeal over Shropshire M54 death mystery
Police trying to unlock the mystery of how a man whose remains were found at the side of the M54 in Shropshire was killed have launched a fresh plea for information.
Detectives said they were continuing to investigate the death of Surjit Takhar, whose remains were found next to junction 4 for Shifnal, and urged a person who called them last year to get back in touch, believing the caller could possess key information.
Mr Takhar, from Oldbury, is believed to have been murdered but two years on police are still searching for answers.
The father-of-three went missing aged 37 in October 2008 and his remains were not found until August 2015.
The grim discovery was made by maintenance workers.
Last month Mr Takhar's family made a renewed appeal on BBC's Crimewatch for information to end their suffering.
Mr Takhar's wife, Lavina Sohl ,said she believed his death may have been an accident but police maintain they are treating it as murder.
Investigators have said they are keen to build up a profile of Mr Takhar's lifestyle and movements before he went missing, particularly around the temple he frequently visited on Soho Road in Birmingham
Detective Inspector Jim Munro, from West Midlands Police Force CID, said: “We are still actively investigating the murder of Surjit Takhar.
“We also still want to hear from someone who called us in January 2016 who may have information which will assist us.
“Mr Takhar’s family continue to be supported by our specialist officers and we will endeavour to bring them the answers they deserve.”
