Caught on CCTV: Telford flytippers fined after unloading van
Telford & Wrekin Council has released CCTV footage of one of 10 flytippers who have received fixed penalty notices.
Though the identity of the two men and the registration plate of their van have been obscured, they can clearly be seen throwing cardboard, plastic and galvanized mesh onto the ground at Burroughs Bank in Lightmoor.
The footage was recorded on September 16 this year.
The identity of the men has been protected, as they have both now paid the fine.
In June of this year, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet approved a new approach to all forms of environmental enforcement, of which fly-tipping is part.
The council has trained around 40 current members of staff in a number of new powers.
But it says it is not just about fines and it wants to reduce flytipping all-round through education.
Since the start of the campaign, one man has been prosecuted, a Richard Hewitt who was seen dumping near Little Wenlock and was fined £800.
A total of 10 fixed penalty notices have also been handed out.
The fine for fly-tipping is £400. Failure to pay could lead to an unlimited fine and or imprisonment
