Firm steps in to help vandalised workshop
A family-run wooden flooring company has come to the rescue of a disability charity in Albrighton after their workshop was vandalised by burglars.
The woodwork workshop at Albrighton Trust, Moat and Gardens was broken into when burglars smashed through a wall, causing at least £1,000 damage.
It is the second time in two years that the woodwork studio has been broken into at the charity's premises. Previously, valuable power tools were stolen.
Staff from the charity issued an appeal in the Shropshire Star for help from local tradesman who could help carry out the work to repair the damage, after Selco Building Merchants donated the material for the repairs.
Blueridge Flooring, based in Boningale, came to the charity's rescue and carried out a DIY SOS-style repair at the charity's Blue House Lane premises.
Lewis Edwards, from Blueridge Flooring, said: “We were appalled to hear about the incident at the Albrighton Trust, being so local and a cause very close to hearts we had no hesitation in leaping to the rescue.
"Blueridge decided immediately, it was our duty to give back to the local community and put smiles back on everyone connected to the trust.
"The work they do is invaluable and the setting is wonderful, we hope our small contribution reminds them that the community is fully behind them."
Albrighton Trust administrator, Stephen Jimson, added: "After seeing our public plea in the local media, local company Blueridge Flooring, of Boningale, kindly offered to repair the damaged workshop free of charge.
"Everyone at the Albrighton Trust Moat and Gardens - especially the woodcrafters - would like to thank Blueridge Flooring for their kindness.
"This kind gesture means our disabled woodcrafters can continue to create their wonderful wooden items to help raise funds for the charity.
"We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who has supported us through this incident, our hearts have been lifted by the wonderful response of all our friends and supporters."
The Albrighton Trust, Moat and Gardens, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, offers educational and recreational activities for people disadvantaged by disability, special needs or illness.
