Number of 999 calls almost doubles in one day
The number of 999 calls to West Mercia Police rose by almost 50 per cent as the sun came out.
By yesterday afternoon, police had received 48 per cent more emergency calls than the same time on Wednesday.
West Mercia Police Operations and Communications Centre tweeted saying: "Sunshine normally means a busy time for us in OCC.
"Please only call 999 if it is a genuine emergency, for less urgent call 101 #MakeTheRightCall"
