Salop Lets was accused of not keeping their three properties in Hurleybrook Way, Leegomery, in proper condition, including not keeping fire escapes free of clutter nor making sure fire alarms were in working order.

There were not always light fittings for occupants, as well as issues with door and oven fittings.

The company also failed to fix the issues after Telford & Wrekin Council demanded they sort them out earlier this year.

Salop Lets appeared before magistrates in Telford. The case was adjourned for sentencing until October 29.

Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Enforcement, said: “The safety of our residents is of paramount importance. That is why we are working hard to make sure that private rented housing is safe for tenants to live in.

“Earlier this year we set up the rogue landlord taskforce as part of our ‘Better Homes For All’ package to improve housing in the private rented sector. This case highlights the vital work of this taskforce in keeping people safe.”
