Leader of Telford gang which abused and trafficked young girls still in jail - MP

Lucy Allan, the town's MP, said she had been contacted by concerned constituents after Mubarek Ali was supposedly spotted in the area.

Ms Allan said West Mercia Police had told her that he was still behind bars, and today she called for Ali to serve the rest of his sentence – until 2032 – behind bars.

Following an eight-week trial at Worcester Crown Court in 2013, after cases stretching over two years, Ali was given 22 years; 14 years immediate custody and eight years on licence, for seven offences – four of controlling child prostitution, causing child prostitution and two offences of trafficking in the UK for the purpose of prostitution, involving two of the victims.

He was released in November 2017 before breaching his licence and being returned to prison in July last year.

Ms Allan said: "I want to assure everyone who is concerned about social media reports and an apparent sighting, that Mubarek Ali remains in prison where he belongs with a release date set for 2032.

“Justice demands that he must serve the remainder of his sentence in custody; anything less would show a casual disregard for the nature of his crimes and for the victims whose lives he changed forever.

"We need to ensure that victims are kept safe and can go about the process of rebuilding their lives in their community without fear.”
